Safety concern - improper venting
I purchased this range one month ago. With baking, the outside surface of the oven door becomes extremely hot. While baking a pizza the other day, I registered a reading of 180 degrees beside the upper outer edge of the door (just beside the handle). Please see the attached image. The thermometer was placed beside a child safety lock my husband installed, as we have a 1 and 2 year old in the home. This area of the door is within the explorative reach of my children. The entire glass front of the oven becomes hot with baking, however the warmest area is just beside the front handle (across the entire stove front). It is extremely hot and liable to cause skin burning. There appears to be a design flaw with this range related to improper venting. I have read reviews from other owners of this range who have reported and are concerned with the same issue. When I spoke with KitchenAid Customer Service, I was informed there have been no safety concerns or product recalls of this range. I question whether there should be. I caution others from purchasing this range, especially those with young children in the home. To have a 180+ degree surface area within a toddler's reach, is a design flaw I hope KitchenAid will address.
